Interview with Havik
Age: 21
Better Known As: Havik
A new face in the modeling world, Havik is quickly becoming one of our favorites. So imagine our surprise when we learned that this was a career she stumbled upon quite by accident.
“I grew up singing and dancing, and never really thought about modeling. It wasn’t until I was forced to quit both of those activities that the idea of becoming a model really started to form in my head.”
And aren’t we glad that it did! An avid singer throughout her life, Havik’s first love has always been dance. She has trained for most of her life and would love to still have dance as a part of her life. “But there came a time when I realized that it was time to give it up. Even as I walked away I knew that I had to start looking for something else. I have spent too much of my life as an artist to just walk away from it all. Being a model has given me the creative outlet that I need.”
It turns out that it was a match made in heaven. Havik loves to model, and we have to say that the camera loves her too! When we asked what her favorite part was she answered without hesitation that it was seeing her pictures. “I love seeing new pictures for the first time. I’ve always found the process to be fascinating and the pictures are the end result. It’s great to see how it all comes together.”
Now she is sharing her passion with her 3-year-old son, and she started early! “I started him in modeling when he was just tiny. Now he loves coming with me to shoots, and even plays like he is the photographer. He has his own little toy cameras and everything!” But for her this is about more than just the pictures, it is about sharing her love of art with the next generation. “I hope that this is something that we can always share.”
While we would love to claim this beautiful girl as one of our own, it turns out that she is a transplant. Born and raised in Molalla Oregon, Havik moved to Phoenix right out of high school. “I needed a change of place and felt that it was time to just be somewhere different.” She feels right as home here and has never regretted her decision to pull up stakes and leave her hometown behind.
In the long run Havik hopes to make modeling her full time gig, but in the mean time she still punches the clock like all the rest of us working as an administrative assistant for an alcohol distribution company. “I would really like to branch out and get into promotional modeling. It’s completely different from what I’m doing now because you are actually interacting with the public rather than just the photographer.” And we think that the public would like that!
